FROM INDRA TO MELVINO: A STUDY ON LANGUAGE SHIFT IN NAMING JAVANESSE CHILDREN
Abstract
This research focus to decribe the language shift in naming Javanesse childre in Ponorogo
regency, also the characteristics and factor that influence this phenomenon. This study uses
descriptive qualitative design and use interview and observation in gathering the data. The
analysis data used interactive model. The result of the research showed that in naming process still
influenced by mother tongue, Javanesse language. The language shift happen from Javanesse
language to Indonesian, English, and Arabic. The factor influence it beside multilingualism also
education, economy, migration, and urbanization
