DEVELOPING AUDIO VISUAL CD MATERIAL FOR BASIC TEACHING SKILL IN TEACHING MATHEMATICS
Abstract
The quality of the education system depends on the quality of teachers. As teacher-to-be personnel,
student needs to consider the academic competences by mastering eight basic teaching skills. The
purpose of this study was to determine the significance of teaching materials to teach basic skills
that are equipped by audio-visual CD. This study is a research and development (R&D). The
procedures of research and development are carried out starting from: (1) conducting a field study,
including literature study and a description and analysis of findings; (2) conducting study of
development includes model development, design validation, design revisions, product testing,
product revision, and evaluation and refinement; (3) examining evaluation to test the effectiveness
of teaching materials. However, this present research is conducted until the second phase.
Validation of teaching materials was carried out by two experts and one expert in media material.
This study used small-scale field trials using 3 students while large-scale trial using 6 students. The
results of this study concluded that (1) the results of expert validation indicates that the material
aspect in the category valid, while the media aspects of the category is quite valid, (2) the results of
field trials small scale as feasible, while field trials large scale very well worth it.
