OPTIMIZATION OF CHARACTER VALUES IN EARLY CHILDHOOD THROUGH BUJANG GANONG FIGURE

Abstract


Character education needs to be applied since the early childhood education. Character values in
early childhood can be developed and optimalized through character education. Bujang Ganong
figure is a character in the Reyog Ponorogo arts which very familiar among early childhood.
Bujang Ganong ( Ganongan ) is one of the characters who are energetic , hilarious, and expertise
in martial arts so that every appearance is always been waited by the audience, especially children.
Bujang Ganong depicts the figure of a young governor who is nimble, hard work, clever , witty,
and powerful. The children are already familiar with Buang Ganong. Besides deft, clever, witty ,
and very powerful figure, Bujang Ganong has a face that makes children love it. The character is
described as having long hair, a long nose, and wide eyes. Educators and parents are expected to
optimize the values of character through dance and love affection of Bujang Ganong figure in
early childhood. As a result, children are not only able to moves the dance but also be able to
practice the values of positive traits that exist in the Bujang Ganong figure.
